School response to Covid-19

Covid-19 Response Update May 2022

Living with Covid Plan

The government has set out its Living with Covid plan. The following plan is now in place:

  • People with Covid are not legally required to self-isolate
  • However, guidance recommends that those who test positive stay at home and avoid contact with others for at least five full days (see the next news paragraph; What you can do to help stop the spread of Covid-19)
  • Self-isolation support payments for those on low incomes have stopped
  • Routine contact tracing has ended- people in contact with someone with Covid will no longer be advised to self-isolate or take daily tests
  • Workers are not required to tell their employer if they need to self-isolate

What you can do to help stop the spread of Covid-19?

Cases in school, where children have tested positive, have been where children and adults have presented with a wider range of symptoms and NOT always the classic ones associated with Covid-19 (high temperature, loss of the sense of taste and smell and a continuous and new cough). The advice to parents is that people who display any of the raft of milder symptoms is to also take a lateral flow test.  These symptoms are:  diarrhoea, a persistent headache, fever and chills, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, and nausea or vomiting.

Please note: to stop the spread of other infections and NOT just Covid-19, pupils should NOT attend school if feeling unwell.

Below you can access policies on on-line line and remote learning should your child be required to self-isolate and is well enough to learn from home.
