Sport at Lower Darwen Primary School
At Lower Darwen Primary School, there is a wealth of sporting opportunities available.
Each year, we participate in the following activities: gymnastics, cricket, boccia, cross country, football, hockey, netball, paralympics, quad kids athletics, rounders, sports hall athletics, summer athletics, swimming, tag rugby and tennis.
Various after school clubs help train the children to participate in the competitions and be selected for the teams.
In KS2, children also take part in weekly intra competitions in their houses.
The school also employs the professional sports coach Phil Eastwood who coaches a variety of sports and multi-skills activities to our children. Year 1 teacher Emily Clemson manages many of our competitive sports team, but many of our staff coach a range of sporting activities from tennis to gymnastics and dance.
We are proud of our many sporting achievements. The school believes that competitive sport is important and that children learn to both win and lose in the correct manner. At Lower Darwen, we believe that sport and physical activity is for everyone regardless of ability, sex, race, or disability. We provide sporting opportunities for all our children whilst encouraging and developing our elite and talented pupils.
