Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment
Thanks to everybody who took part in our annual non-uniform/ Silly Hat Day to raise money for Maddi’s Butterflies. Pictured below, is a picture of some of our children in their hats. The total amount raised was £242.20. An assortment of Maddi’s Butterflies items can also be purchased from the school office – all priced at £1.
LDPS had a special surprise visitor when OneRover the Dog arrived in school. He was at Lower Darwen to say thank you to the children and staff for taking part in the Blue and White Day to celebrate Blackburn Rovers’ promotion to the Championship.
Rover went around all the classes and he had his photograph taken with many of the children and staff. He was even caught on camera entertaining the children with the latest dance moves.
At the end of his visit, Mrs Fish presented him with a cheque from the school for the BRFC Community Trust charity.
Well done to our Year 5-6 boys and girls, who came away with the school's first ever team gymnastics medals in yesterday's competition at St Bedes. The children won a gold and bronze medal. Thank you to Miss Clemson, who has been coaching the team for the past few weeks and ensured they performed to the peak of their ability.
A big thank you to Manchester City FC for our tour of the Etihad Stadium. The children in Year 6CM had a wonderful time and learned lots about how a professional football club works. Later at the National Football Museum, they were pictured with FA Premier League trophy before learning about the history of the football fan.
It's great to see children who go the extra mile in their school work, and these children in Miss Monaghan's class literally did just that. In their spare time, they have been busy consolidating their learning by creating this mammoth piece of writing. When it was rolled out, it spanned the WHOLE length of the hall. Now, that is extremely long!
Well done, to the girls' and boys' teams who competed in the first leg of the cross country championships at Witton Park, Blackburn. The children all worked hard extremely hard in heavy conditions. A big shout out to Harry Sambrook, who finished the event in second place.
