Lower Darwen Primary School

The school operates the following start and finish times:

Please note: pupils across the school spend 6.5 hours per day in school and a total of 32.5 hours per week.

* Please note: doors open for Junior children at 8.45pm, where the pupils can access their classroom for morning work, before school officially starts at 8.50am.

Start of school

Doors open at 8.45am and registration begins at 8.45am for Infant (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2) children and at 8.50am for Junior (Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6) children. It is important, as learning begins immediately, that your child arrives at school promptly. Any pupil arriving after the register has closed will be entered into the register as late.

The school's breakfast club, 'Rise and Shine' opens its doors at 8.00am and serves breakfast until 8.30am. At 8.45am, these children make their way into class. Doors close at 9.00am and all children arriving after this time, must report to the school office.

Foundation Stage children enter school via the Reception class garden gate and are greeted by a member of staff. Key Stage One and Key Stage Two enter school via the Infant and Junior doors on the main playground. Children, unless accessing our breakfast club or accompanied by an adult, should not be on school premises before 8.40am.

End of Day Procedures

School ends for Infant children at 3.15pm and for Junior children at 3.20pm. Children will leave the building in an orderly manner. Reception and Key Stage 1 children will only be released to an authorised adult. If any child, who is normally collected by parents, finds that they are not there to collect them, the child is to return into school to await the arrival of that person.

Hearing Impaired pupils will be escorted by staff to their transport and handed over to their travel escort.

Pupils registered for Happy Days

All children are escorted to the club by Happy Days staff for after school club registration. Staff check Happy Days register on their classroom door and ensure children are informed that they await collection. Happy Days opens at 3.15pm and closes at 5.30pm.
