History Leader Profile

Miss Monaghan has been history subject lead for six years.  She is a dynamic and enthusiastic lead who ensures that the history curriculum is engaging and enjoyable. She also has a wealth of teaching experience, including in EYFS. Her favourite topics are History within living memory especially the 1960’s. Miss Monaghan is incredibly passionate about bringing the learning in our history lessons to life in the great outdoors! 

History Intent

At Lower Darwen Primary School, we want all our children to have an understanding of our past and how history will shape their present lives, community and the wider world. We want our children to be enthused by engaging them in purposeful and relevant lessons. 
 

Through their development of disciplinary skills, we want pupils to have the capability to confidently question the realisability any information they are exposed to now and in the future.

Our history curriculum will cover a wide range of topics that are developed from the relevance to our children’s lives but alongside the statutory curriculum.

Classroom Toolkits ensure that children have access to specific historical knowledge and skills. The toolkits will continually evolve in response to current reactive affairs and whatever might spark the curiosity of our pupils.
