Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment
Last night (Thursday 24th May 2018), a group of year 6 girls took part in a prestigious dance competition at the Guild Hall in Preston. Our team choreographed their own dance routine and performed it to a packed audience in the Charter Theatre. The children represented the school with distinction and they told me that it was an enjoyable experience. I would also like to thank Mrs Omar and Mrs Taylor who accompanied the children to the event.
On Monday (21ststMay 2018), to celebrate World Day for Cultural Diversity, we held ‘One World Day’ in school. This whole school event involved each class choosing a country learning about the country’s culture, traditions, food, religion and music. Children came to school in fancy dress. We had some brilliant costumes with pupils dressed; in the country’s national dress, as famous icons, animals from their chosen country or wearing the colours of the country's flag. There was also a ‘World Museum’ in the library that children visited. This included interesting souvenirs and photos from around the world.
Thanks to everybody who took part in our annual non-uniform/ Silly Hat Day to raise money for Maddi’s Butterflies. Pictured below, is a picture of some of our children in their hats. The total amount raised was £242.20. An assortment of Maddi’s Butterflies items can also be purchased from the school office – all priced at £1.
LDPS had a special surprise visitor when OneRover the Dog arrived in school. He was at Lower Darwen to say thank you to the children and staff for taking part in the Blue and White Day to celebrate Blackburn Rovers’ promotion to the Championship.
Rover went around all the classes and he had his photograph taken with many of the children and staff. He was even caught on camera entertaining the children with the latest dance moves.
At the end of his visit, Mrs Fish presented him with a cheque from the school for the BRFC Community Trust charity.
